The University of Gdańsk Senate has approved a change to the University of Gdańsk Library’s logo
At the last pre-summer session of the Senate of the University of Gdańsk, held on 2 July 2026, a motion to change the University of Gdańsk Library’s logo was adopted.
The proposed changes were presented by the Director of the University of Gdańsk Library, Dr Arnold Kłonczyński, Professor at the University of Gdańsk. The motion formed part of the ongoing amendments to the University of Gdańsk Library Regulations and had previously been endorsed by the Library Council.
As Prof. Arnold Kłonczyński emphasised, the Library’s current logo is not sufficiently recognisable among external partners, which means it must be supplemented with the University of Gdańsk logo in all visual communications. Consequently, a new logo has been proposed, based on the University of Gdańsk’s logo, supplemented with the word ‘Library’.
The change aims to strengthen the consistency of the University of Gdańsk’s visual identity, increase the Library’s recognisability as a university-wide unit, and streamline graphic communication. The new solution will also help to reduce the number of graphic symbols used and avoid confusion in promotional and informational materials.
