Opening of the garden on the terrace of the UG Main Library

Last Thursday, 25th of September, a special meeting was held at the Main Library of the University of Gdańsk, which brought together many guests from the academic community. The event was attended by librarians from the Main Library and specialist libraries, the former director of the University of Gdańsk Library, Ms Grażyna Jaśkowiak, and the Vice-Rectors of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. Wiesław Laskowski and Prof. Ewa Szymczak.

The ceremony was divided into two parts.
🔹 The first part was devoted to the presentation of the Rector's awards and medals on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk. This was an important moment that highlighted the significance of the work and commitment of the people associated with our library.

🔹 The second part of the meeting was the grand opening of the garden on the terrace of the Main Library. The new space was presented in an atmosphere full of warmth and kindness, and the event was graced by a performance by saxophonist Marcin Janek from the Gdańsk Academic Orchestra.

The favourable, sunny weather meant that the conversations among the invited guests continued long after the concert ended. The new garden has become not only an aesthetic but also a symbolic place – a space for meetings, exchange of ideas and building bonds within the university community.
